My little MasterChef

Ever since the show MasterChef Junior aired, my son has decided that he wants to be a MasterChef. To help with this goal of his I decided to create his own “MasterChef” recipe book that includes recipes found online that are easy and simple. My child loves to help cook, so I wanted to give him something that he could pull out and be able to read and easily make all by himself (yes I supervise him). Here are a few of the recipes I have included in case you wanted to get your kids more involved in the kitchen. There is nothing wrong with teaching our boys how to cook because one day they will be married and their wives will thank us.

Mini Biscuit Pizza 

Ingredients

  • 1 can Grands Homestyle Biscuits
  • 1 1/2 cups of pizza sauce (homemade or store-bought)
  • 2 cups shredded Italian Blend cheese
  • toppings of choice (pepperoni, sausage, veggies, chicken, whatever your child may like)

Directions

  1. Preheat oven to 400 degrees F. Spray a cookie sheet or pizza pan with non-stick cooking spray.
  2. Flatten each biscuit out on pan until they are 6 inches in diameter. Spread a layer of pizza sauce onto each biscuit. (the biscuits really absorb the sauce, so it’s ok if you go a little heavy.)
  3. Sprinkle 1 Tablespoon shredded Italian Blend cheese onto each biscuit. Top with your toppings of choice. Sprinkle an additional 3 tablespoons Italian Blend cheese onto each pizza.
  4. Bake at 400 degrees for 7-10 minutes, until biscuits are golden brown on edges and cheese is bubbly. Serve immediately.

Oatmeal Cookie Smoothie

Ingredients
3/4 cup rolled oats
1/4 cup raisins
1/4 teaspoon pumpkin pie spice
1 cup whole milk, plus more if needed
1/2 cup full-fat vanilla yogurt
1 tablespoon dark brown sugar

Directions
Add the oats, raisins and pumpkin pie spice to the carafe of a blender and pour in the milk, adding more to cover the oats if needed. Stir completely and set aside until the oats are soft, 15 minutes.

Blend on high-speed until pureed and smooth, about 1 minute. Add the yogurt, brown sugar and 1 1/2 cups ice, and blend on high-speed until smooth, about 30 seconds. Pour into 2 pint glasses.
